School Days Cool Days

So both girls started school this week.  Sky started 3 year old pre school at Hurley.  She only goes half a day Monday thru Friday.  So far she seems to really like it.   Kayden started second grade this morning!  I was watching them both play "ring around the rosie" the other day and it is amazing how much they have both grown!  It is hard to believe that Kayden was 4 when I met Shannon.  She tall and talks grown up.  She is very mature for her age and such a sweet young lady.  Sky had just turned a year old so she has changes in so many ways.  Lately she has really gotten a personality and talks with a  lot of sass!  We have had to ask her to watch her attitude - the things kids learn from other children is amazing because I know some of the stuff she says she did not hear at home...but it mostly just fun "sass"!   I lOVE being able to have conversations with her about stuff.  She is currently on a god kick and wants to go to heaven to play with god and talks about it almost nightly.  This all came about after we lost a dog and cat and then with Nana passing she thinks Heaven is just a short trip away.  She says she can just jump up there and go see God.   It is very sweet!

Yesterday Kayden turned 7.   We did not have her last night so Tuesday night we took her to dinner.  She picked Taco Bell....gonna have to teach her a few things! lol   After that we went and got a movie and some ice cream.  It was a good night!   Two weeks ago we had her birthday party - BBQ at the house and then we rented out the Crane pool.  Kayden's sister Brookelyn got to come so that made it extra special for Kayden.  Here are some pics I took of Kayden and Sky....everyone stay cool out there!

Beauty At Three

Here are some pictures that Mom took of Sky over Memorial Weekend - 3 years old and one month...

Summer Time Is Here

So as we all know by the heat - SUMMER IS HERE!  Last night I could not help but dream of Christmas decor and a building a fire in the fireplace.  I really do not enjoy the heat but I also do not enjoy the freezing! ;)  Is 70 degree weather all year round too much to ask for?  I guess so.
We competed (I attended) in the first chuckwagon race of the summer last weekend and Shannon ended up 3rd running rubber tire / big horse.  His award for his success - a duffle bag.   It is a nice duffle bag - for a duffle bag that is.
Our female Catahoula had her puppies on the 11th.  Shannon said she would have them that morning but I never dreamed it would be before I left for work but sure enough I went and checked on her as I left and she had one in her mouth.  I proceeded to call Shannon and explain to him that she was trying to kill them (in a very dramatic tone)!   I was informed later that she was only protecting them and was just scared of what was coming out of her - rightfully so.  We ended up with 8 leopard blue eyed pups! Beautiful pups!
I still miss my Sky bunny and I have been reunited with her since Monday around 11 - yes I still miss her and lil Miss Kayden Campbell but Grandma Jan has requested them both for a couple of days so they will be off to stay with her tonight and tomorrow night.  I plan on getting caught up on some much needed sleep.  I will not get to sleep in but I will get to go to bed whenever I want, I consider that a treat.
I have been promoted to the News Editor of the Stone County Republican.   Took on a lot more work but it is more of a satisfying job.

Kayden competed in her first Shodeo a couple weeks ago and got 2nd in Poles and 3rd in Barrels.  We are so proud of her for just getting out there and doing it.  Sky wanted no part of it but hopefully she will come around.  She enjoys riding but we had to strap her in the saddle and she didn't like that at all because Sissy didn't need to be strapped in.

We had a great 3rd birthday party for Miss Skyler celebrating at the ranch and at Nana and Granddad King's.  Thank you to all that came and shared that special day with my baby girl.

Kayden will be celebrating a her 7th Birthday on the 6th of July.  We will be having a party at the Crane City pool either the last weekend of June or the weekend after her bday.  She is growing up so fast!  She is an EXCELLENT reader and student, such a lovely young lady!
We are so proud of both the girls.

Enjoy life because you only get one! :)
